Ten Production Interns work with the Production Staff, learning and gaining experience through Festival set-up, company load-ins, and show-operating positions in two indoor theatres, an outdoor stage, and four studios.
During the first three weeks of the internship, Production Interns open and clean the theatres and studios, install complete lighting and sound systems, lay multiple dance floors, and hang repertory soft goods. During this pre-season period, the Production Department is instrumental in preparing the Festival grounds for public access. Production Interns and Staff participate in a variety of campus-wide projects and tasks to create the atmosphere for which Jacob’s Pillow is so well-known. During company load-ins, general jobs include hanging and focusing lights, laying dance floors, assembling scenery, maintaining wardrobe, and the loading and unloading of trucks alongside visiting companies.
Joanne Langione Dance Center is currently hiring energetic and dedicated teachers for our well-established dance studio in Newton, Ma. Candidate will be able to plan, organize and implement a developmentally appropriate dance program for classes in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their movement potential. Candidates must be able to communicate well with students and parents and establish rules and guidelines for the classroom. JLDC celebrates over 40 years of bringing quality dance education to the children in our community. Excellent dance training with choreography experience required.
The Patron Services Intern works closely with the Patron Services Manager, Assistant Box Office Manager, House Management Interns, Assistant Theatre Manager, volunteers, and the public.
The Patron Services Intern has two primary focuses- first being to provide support and assistant to the overview of Patron Services which includes but is not limited to assisting with internal ticketing needs, ADA seating and procedures, and aiding patrons during peak hours of on-campus visitors. Additionally, the Patron Services Intern will gain a comprehensive understanding of box office policies and procedures, be responsible for the Welcome Center, and assist the Theatre Manager and House Managers with matinee and evening theater performances as needed.
Candidates should be organized, detail-oriented, confident in leadership roles, is capable of multitasking, and with public speaking. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills are a must. Previous cash handling experience is preferred.
Two House Management Interns will manage either the Ted Shawn Theatre or Doris Duke Theatre as well as work in the Box Office to provide the highest level of customer service to patrons.
While house managing, duties include training and supervising volunteer ushers; managing the audience’s entrance, seating, and exit from the theatre; ensuring prompt curtain times; maintaining appropriate conditions in the theatre; auditing theatre attendance; being a point of contact during emergency procedures.. The interns work closely with the Theatre Manager and Patron Services Intern, the Patron Services Manager, Box Office Management and staff, and Production staff. As part of the Patron Services team, responsibilities include educating patrons, providing exemplary customer service, processing orders and exchanges, and assisting with projects in data management that may enhance the overall customer experience.

The Graphic Design Intern works closely with the Graphic Designer to enhance the Pillow’s vibrant digital and print media presence.
Design responsibilities include designing print and electronic materials to promote Festival performances and events, maintaining a high-quality and brand-consistent aesthetic in all materials (materials include on-campus posters, digital signs, and tabling materials; print and digital ads; graphic materials for email communications and social media as well as templates for other marketing staff to use); assisting with photo selection; and assisting with the organization and management of the Pillow’s archival photo database. As part of the Marketing team, the Graphic Design Intern also assists with marketing research, community outreach and events, staffing marketing events, and gives public tours.
Candidates should be well versed in InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, and have experience in all Adobe Design Suite products. Applicants must be detail-or
