Boston Contemporary Dance Festival 2017
The Boston Contemporary Dance Festival returns for its fifth year. The festival brings a diverse array of contemporary dance artists together, inviting the greater Boston community to experience this art form at its finest.
This year the festival showcases 34 companies representing 11 states from coast to coast, as well as artists from Japan.
New York City based Doug Varone and Dancers headline this year’s festival. The 7:30 National Showcase will be the Boston premiere of their new work, folded, featuring Xan Burley and Alex Springer.
Between the two performances, an open conversation with the artists at approximately 4 p.m., moderated by Boston Dance Alliance Executive Director Debra Cash, will provide a forum for choreographers, executive directors, and artistic directors to discuss their strategies and share best practices in developing and presenting their work. All are welcome.
