The Classical Dance Center offers instruction in classical ballet. Class is taught in the Russian technique, in the traditional format of barre and center work, with an emphasis on proper placement and alignment with the intent to build strength and flexibility. The student learns how to move correctly within individual range of motion while working with the elements of ballet positions, ports de bras, line and musicality. This provides the foundation for the dancer to progress in the study of dance and to learn to execute and perform ballet as a classical, graceful and exciting expression of dance in its traditional art form. A vocabulary of dance is also learned, giving the student a dance education that can be applied to further study as well as other forms of dance.
