Learn to Work Those Heels

with

Vanessa White, creator and choreographer of The Slutcracker.

Tuesdays: March 17 - April 28, 2015 (7-weeks)

6:30-8:00pm

Studio #6

$15.00 advance, $20.00 drop-in

Email info@theslutcracker.com for preregistration information
(make sure to allow emails from theslutcracker.com!)

This is an all-levels, all-genders class. We will begin class with a shoe-less warm up (there will be core work!), followed by a warm up *in* your heels (short, technique-based exercises to get you feeling confident), and then we'll learn some choreography and DANCE.

WHAT TO WEAR: No street shoes allowed in the studios at any time.

  • Bring heels you feel reasonably comfortable walking in, be they 1/2 inch character shoes or sky-high stilettos. Feel free to bring a couple different pairs to try. And I promise I won't scowl at you if you just *have* to kick the shoes off. I want you in class having fun, no judgment!
  • Some classes will include floor work. Knee pads recommended (though I always try to have alternate choreo in case floor work is just not your thing).
  • Wear clothes you want to dance in. Sweats or fishnets, bustiers or t-shirts, it's all fine.

Hope to see you out there!

TO PRE-REGISTER:

**You may drop in to any class without registering for $20/class, payable in person at the beginning of class.

Register for classes prior to the 3/17 start date and receive a $5 discount off each class. You DO NOT have to commit to every class to get the pre-registration price, just as long as you register by 3/17.

I like to be flexible with people's schedules, so I'm extending the discount to anyone who registers in advance, even if it's not for the whole series.

To register, please send payment via PayPal to <marketing@theslutcracker.com>. Be sure to include your name and the dates for which you are registering in the notes section of the PayPal payment form. If you would prefer, you may bring cash or check to the first class and pay in person.

2 classes = $30
3 classes = $45
4 classes = $60
5 classes = $75

The BODY EXPANSIVE METHOD, is a way to open your body to its maximum possibilities for movement at any given moment. By relaxing the ligaments and allowing the joints to move freely, without the weight of the muscles, this process allows us to feel and look lighter. When we feel free, our body is happy, and if our body is happy we are healthy. With relaxed movement, good music, and deep work based in stretching BE METHOD will change your body from the inside out; shaping, relaxing and giving to you the freedom of movement that we all need to have!

Fernanda Ghi began her career as a professional ballet dancer at the age of 17 and is now know and one of the world's best professional Argentine Tango Dancer. She developed this method using her background in ballet modern and jazz and uses it now to improve her level as well as the rest of the dancers in her company (Artango Dance Company). For the past 25 years this has been her only way of training to keep her dancing fresh, her body flexible and her thinking clear.

BE METHOD focuses on expression and flexibility of movement in the individual even in the very limited space. Throughout each class, we will be working to elevate and move our bodies in gravity defying ways. This work is fluid and gentle, yet yields immediate results. Stretching exercises are done using extension and not force- we will learn to utilize the space inside the body and between the joints so that each movement can be done. While material will build sequentially each class explores a new movement in the same the same method- no one class is the same ,because your body is never the same.
