Toolkit Series: Introduction to Teaching Contact Improvisation
The CI JP Toolkit Series is a new set of classes designed to meet a growing interest within our community to build teaching practices through the focused study of CI specific teaching skills. Toolkit classes, each taught by a seasoned educator, seek to provide fundamental resources to aid us in creating equitable, focused spaces for the study of CI.
While the Toolkit Series will be CI focused, anyone who is interested in teaching in general or curious about how one builds material for improvisational classes will benefit from attending.
Jared Williams leads the first in this series. He will approach it as a lab in which to share his own experiences learning to teach CI, his perspectives on dealing with identity and holding space for multiple identities, and how he develops a class from concept to practice.
