Hip Hop Intensive Join Urbanity August 15-18 and celebrate Boston’s Hip Hop dance culture with programs for both teens and adults. Each class will explore a different focus, including Popping, Dance Hall, Shuffle/House and Krump. The Hip Hop Dance Intensive is designed so that students can experience a range of styles and have opportunities to grow individually and with peers. Open to all levels with experience in hip hop dance suggested!

Boston Ballet announces their Citydance 30 documentary will air on NBC 10 Boston starting August 20 at 7 PM with encore airings and on-demand viewing opportunities on NBC10 Boston, NECN, and Spanish-language Telemundo. FY23 Arts and Culture Community Impact Grant Fund of Combined Jewish Philanthropies supports artists, enriches our community through culture, and explores the depth of Jewish experience and memory. Applicants may apply as an individual or as a collaboration among multiple artists. One $25,000 grant for a multidisciplinary collaborative project that includes Jewish and BIPOC artists (may be the same people) plus 10 $7,500 grants. Letters of Intent due by 5:00 p.m. August 31.
Liquid Spine, a dance and film series, has opened submission for eco-arts films for a MAGMA festival September 17, which is International Coastal Cleanup Day. Submissions are currently open to artists who use their medium to illuminate the beauty of our natural world or to strive for environmental activism.
Urbanity is offering both video auditions and in-studio auditions for their Creative Class on Sunday, August 21, 10:00 -11:30 AM at UDHQ. Led by Company Director Meg Anderson, the In-Studio audition will incorporate aspects of ballet, modern, jazz, and contemporary techniques. They are looking for dancers with training in contemporary dance, as well as expertise in other genres. All are welcome!
City Ballet of Boston is looking for experienced dancers with strong ballet technique for the 2022 production of Anthony Williams’ Urban Nutcracker. Performances will be December 17-23 at the historic Boch Center Shubert Theatre. Auditions include a 1.5-hour ballet class. After class, dancers may be asked to stay to learn sections of Urban Nutcracker choreography. Please bring your resume/CV, headshot and pointe shoes to the audition. If you are auditioning for a dance style other than ballet, please prepare a short piece to demonstrate your abilities. Masks are required for the audition.
