Dance events at Tufts! Dancers Camilla Finlay and Ken Pierce will join Early Music Ensemble for a rousing program of Italian early 17th century dance, “Kickshawse, Caper and Sink-a-pace”. Tuesday, November 15, 8 PM at Distler Performance Hall, Granoff Music Center, Medford MA

Tufts Fall Dance Concert 2022 presents senior dance minors Andres Antonio’s and Hanna Bregman’s capstone projects alongside faculty choreographic work by Jaclyn Waguespack and a guest artist composition by Hyung Ji Yu. Friday, November 18, 7 PM, at Jackson Dance Lab, 50 Talbot Ave, Medford, MA.

Phenomenal Women: An evening with tap dancer and choreographer Ayodele Casel. Phenomenal Women is a series moderated by Radio Boston host Tiziana Dearing that invites women who have risen to the top of their professions to share their stories. Casel most recently served as tap choreographer for the Broadway revival of “Funny Girl.” She will perform during the conversation. Enjoy a reception with complimentary hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. Wednesday, November 16, 6:30 PM (doors open: 5:30 PM).

SYREN, a modern dance company based in NYC, performs Red and Blue, Bitter and Sweet at Museum of Science. Red and Blue, Bitter and Sweet is an exploration of quantum mechanics theories including entanglement, wave/particle duality, uncertainty principle, and superposition. Following the performance, the creative team will be joined in conversation by William Detmold, Associate Professor of Physics at MIT. Wednesday, November 16 at 7 PM. Free but RSVP is requested.

Join Bamuthi and local activist artists Dzidzor (African folklore, performing artist, author and entrepreneur) and Anita Morson-Matra (creative entrepreneur & founder of Baldwin in the Park and Nubian Nights) for an Art & Social Justice Panel moderated by BU Professor of Music André de Quadros. Thursday, November 17, 5:30 PM at 8 St. Mary’s Street, Boston.

Dance Train is a new opportunity for dancers who want to dance into their adult years. Join their new weekend workshop series beginning  Saturday, November 19, 2:30-6:30 PM, at Dance Expressions (400 Union St, Westboro, MA). Back-to-back 1-hour classes in hip-hop, heels and jazz. Dance Currents Inc. in partnership with The Dance Complex is presenting the first live screening of To Feel the Earth, and Touch the Sky, a film highlighting the boundary breaking figures in the evolution of American Modern Dance. Bliss Body collages dance, imagery and true stories to explore and share experiences of bliss. It is a provocative and moving hour of dance and theater that includes quiet meditation and energetic dancing, that considers peace and struggle, that asks how we find bliss in today’s world.  Friday, November 18 and Saturday, November 19, 7:30 PM at Brown’s Granoff Center, 154 Angell St, Providence, RI and December 3-18 at  the Everett Stage 9 Duncan Avenue in Providence.

Providence College Blackfriars Dance Concert! The Providence College Dance Company will perform its annual dance concert featuring original dance works created by faculty, alumni, and professional choreographers Heather Ahern, Ann Hycuk, Adrienne Hawkins, Haley Andrews, Ashley Rich, all under the direction of choreographer Kat Nasti. Friday, November 18 at 7:30 PM, Saturday, November 19 at 2 PM.

A.I.M by Kyle Abraham makes its Celebrity Series debut with the co-commission Requiem: Fire in the Air of the Earth. Galvanized by Black culture and history, Abraham’s works for his company are developed alongside a wide range of collaborators and reflect both society today and aspirational social changes. Friday, November 18 & Saturday, November 19 8 PM at the BOCH Center.

The Park School, an independent day school in Brookline, is looking for a choreographer for their winter musical production of Matilda! Choreographer will be working with 15+ students in grades 6-8 and will meet with the director and musical director once a week. Rehearsals start the first week of January and running about six weeks with a total of 12-15 hours. This position pays $75-100/hour on 1099. The Somerville Arts Council has a new space finder that includes danceable spaces in Somerville! The Somerville Space Connector  helps dancers in the area find creative space to move in. You can also find their resources included on the BDA space finder page which lists rentable studios “from Kittery to the Cape.”
