Stackin’ Stylez is a Boston based, internationally recognized freestyle dance festival and competition. Competitors have to adapt to a unique list of concepts/prompts as they progress through the bracket. Thursday, September 7, 7 PM through midnight Sunday, September 10 competitors and spectators from around the world will experience the heart of freestyle dance culture via parties, workshops, panel discussions, performances, creative exhibitions/installations, and their staple main event “Freestyle Concepts” dance battle.
SAXYN Dance Works returns to Windhover in Rockport to perform their newest work Seolh based on the Scottish myth of the “selkies,” mythic sea creatures, half woman, half seal, that embody the human quest for freedom. The evening will also include the premiere of a new duet from SAXYN Dance Works and a musical set by singer/songwriter Bre Short. Thursday, September 7 & Friday, September 8, 7-8:30 PM.
Infinite Possibilities: Back 2 Skool features dance artists and entrepreneurs from Montreal, Los Angeles, New York City, Washington D.C., and Boston sharing personal testimonies of living, creating, and activating within freestyle dance. Participate in a movement workshop led by Montreal-based popping innovator HYA aka MonstaPop, followed by a panel discussion, and closing with a mixer and vibes featuring a live DJ. Join the virtual Introductory classes to Dark Room Ballet, designed for blind and visually impaired persons and suitable for people with no prior knowledge of ballet. This repeating series of eight classes introduces students to common ballet vocabulary, anatomical concepts like turnout, torso stability, foot sensitivity and mobility, sightless balancing, and the use of a taped floor for orientation. The Click is looking for an Educational Intern for the 2023-24 season! This internship includes class planning, class reflection/evaluation, and teaching assistance with a Lead Click Educator in a pre-K Creative Movement class environment. Classes will be held at a private elementary school in Arlington, and the position will be paid as a 1099.
