“Call Me Dancer” premieres at the Regent Theatre in Arlington, Wednesday, January 10, 7:30 PM. The award winning documentary portrays a talented young street dancer from Mumbai, determined to be a professional dancer, despite the odds stacked against him and parents who insist that he follow a traditional path. Due to snow, North Atlantic Ballet’s Youth Auditions were postponed to this upcoming Sunday, January 14, 1:00-1:45 PM (ages 7-10), 2:00-2:45 PM (ages 11-13), 3:00-4:00 PM (ages 14+) at the Studios at NAB, 38 Norman St, Everett, MA.
The CONNECT 2024 showcase will be held on Saturday March 23, 2024 in Providence, RI at McVinney Auditorium. Submissions are being accepted through Wednesday, January 10, 2024, and notifications of acceptances will go out by Friday, January 12. Please note that Group/Crew submissions will be considered priority for acceptance over solo/duo/trio submissions.
The Boston Foundation’sLive Arts Boston (LAB) program, created with the support and partnership of the Barr Foundation, supports Greater Boston area artists to test ideas, explore collaborations and build skills in the process of generating new, original work. LAB provides up to $15,000 in project-specific funds to create, produce or present new performing arts work for Greater Boston audiences. In addition to funding, grantees receive project documentation, one-on-one advising, peer networking opportunities and support for other professional development. Deadline is Friday, January 12, 4:59 PM.
Apply to the Jacob’s Pillow Choreography Fellowship. Eight choreographers who have been creating professional work for a minimum of two years will be accepted into the program. Choreographers from varied traditions, who work in the United States and internationally, and consider themselves early to mid-career choreographers, with or without academic training, are welcomed to apply. Choreographers are generally 22-35 years of age, though all early to mid-career choreographers will be considered. The Pillow is the recipient of funding to support a childcare subsidy for female-identifying choreographers thanks to Elizabeth “Liza” Yntema in support of female leadership in the arts. Priority deadline is January 29, regular deadline is February 26. After then, applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
