Groovement
Presented by dana e. fitchett / Movement for Liberation
Launched in 2018 in partnership with Afro Urban Society in Oakland, CA, Groovement is an Afrocentric, QTBIPOC-friendly, liberation-focused, hate-free, pro-love dance class. All levels, all ages welcome. Comfort with music and movement is helpful. Sweats or other danceable clothes and sneakers suggested.
Groovement is about finding a sense of comfort and groove within the container of a structured dance class that emphasizes rhythm, musicality, authentic expression, and joy. dana shares the movement that comes most naturally to her: a hybrid reinterpretation of her experiences dancing at home, in studios, and in clubs.
Class soundtrack spans Afro and soulful house, Afrobeats, hip-hop, R&B, jazz, reggae, and more.
