Winter Regency Ball
Come get your Bridgerton on and dance like Jane Austen.
Get dressed in your Regency finest and dance the night away in the Great Hall of the Gore Mansion. Live musicians will play English country dances from the Regency Period. Social Dance Historian (and BDA member) Ruth Benson Levin will guide you through dances, involving simple, repeated step patterns.
Bring your significant other, a group of friends, or come on your own. All the dances are group dances with gender neutral roles. As you and your partner move down the line, you will find yourselves dancing with nearly everyone else at the Ball.
Regency ballroom attire is not required but will be much admired. We strongly advise, however, that participants wear comfortable, flat shoes and cloth gloves to make hand holding more comfortable (Gore Place will have gloves available to borrow for those who do not own any). Dance cards and refreshments will be provided.
In preparation of the formal Ball, Gore Place will be holding two informal Regency dance workshops, Saturday, January 11th and 25th from 2-4PM. Here attendees can learn the dances that will be featured at the ball. Attendance at one or both workshops is encouraged but not required, although you wouldn’t want someone calling you a “Mr. Collins “ behind you back! Ticket discounts are available if you bundle one or both workshops with a Ball ticket. For info and tickets go to Winter Regency Ball – Gore Place
