Join Kerry Thompson—2026 Urbanity X Residency Awardee, Founding Executive Director of Silent Rhythms, and a globally recognized inclusion expert—for a workshop on building more accessible and inclusive dance spaces. At this workshop, you will learn: the barriers people with disabilities face in accessing dance, American Sign Language (ASL) for the Dance Space, communication tips for teaching people who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing, Blind/Low-Vision, and DeafBlind, and an inclusive teaching methodologies for a diverse disability community. No dance experience required, just a mind open to learning about diversity in dance!

Participants will learn:

  1. The barriers people with disabilities face in accessing dance.
  2. American Sign Language (ASL) for the Dance Space
  3. The importance of Dance Ambassadors
  4. Communication tips for teaching people who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing, Blind/Low-Vision, and DeafBlind.
  5. Inclusive teaching methodologies for a diverse disability community.
