Creativity and Movements for Persons with Disabilities: A Teacher Training Workshop

Join Kerry Thompson—2026 Urbanity X Residency Awardee, Founding Executive Director of Silent Rhythms, and a globally recognized inclusion expert—for a workshop on building more accessible and inclusive dance spaces. At this workshop, you will learn: the barriers people with disabilities face in accessing dance, American Sign Language (ASL) for the Dance Space, communication tips for teaching people who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing, Blind/Low-Vision, and DeafBlind, and an inclusive teaching methodologies for a diverse disability community. No dance experience required, just a mind open to learning about diversity in dance!
Participants will learn:
- The barriers people with disabilities face in accessing dance.

- The importance of Dance Ambassadors
- Communication tips for teaching people who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing, Blind/Low-Vision, and DeafBlind.
