Evanescent is a celebration of DIY and underground queer social dance spaces and the music by BIPOC artists that underscores them. In these spaces, the collision of history, futurity, grief, desire, and joy is palpable, threading the past to the present to the future, and making sure your community is carried along with you. We are dipping into our past to look into the future, highlighting Disco and Discotheques as pivotal sites of queer identity formation and community building. Through excess, adornment, and endurance, we find ourselves, our friends, our lovers, and our chosen family, in the lush orchestrations and the driving beat.

This gathering features a performance by local experimental-contemporary dance collective, Franklin, Et Al, with local dancers Laila J. Franklin, Miranda Lawson, Marcel Santiago Marcelino, Simon Montalvo, and Sarah Pacheco. On the decks, we have Boston’s finest, DJ Brian Halligan, serving all the glamour and funk we could ask for and more. And finally, the sound system is provided by the local legends, system_failure, so we can feel that bass in our bones.

Beer, Wine, N/A Bevs, and light refreshments will be available for purchase.

This is an all ages event with a strict ID and wristband policy at the door. Please be prepared to show ID if you intend to consume alcohol at this event.

Smoking and vaping is allowed outside in designated areas. Absolutely no vaping is allowed indoors.

The venue is in a residential area – we ask you respect our neighbors and keep volume outdoors to a reasonable level.

This venue is ADA accessible with a ramp and lift available for building entry, and chairs will be available throughout the space.

There will be no coat or bag check available.
