Natalie Johnson Dance is seeking an intern to provide administrative support with our marketing and social media leading up to our March 2022 show. Additional support with other administrative tasks can be discussed as/if the need arises. This position will include a stipend, to be negotiated based on experience, and will be a chance to learn about the inner-workings of a dance performance company. Opportunity for growth and a permanent position for the right person! Interest and experience in the performance arts preferred. Urbanity Dance seeks a temporary, part-time Special Projects Manager to support its Director and Managing Director and help manage its in-studio operations. This role is perfect for a proactive, hands-on problem solver, who enjoys taking the lead on projects and values working collaboratively on a small, entrepreneurial team. The Director and Managing Director anticipate this person being their “pinch hitter,” and expect that this person will have a high amount of autonomy to suggest solutions, make decisions, and improve organizational effectiveness. Reporting to the Managing Director, the Special Projects Manager will manage initiatives from all aspects of the organization to ensure that Urbanity Dance functions smoothly and efficiently and is meeting the needs of its community.

Celebrating Urbanity’s 10 years of experimental artistic placemaking, Urbanity is thrilled to announce the launch of its new residency program, Urbanity X! This program aims to elevate promising movement artists to the next level in their careers by providing multi-layered support, including dedicated rehearsal space, a substantial stipend, a performance opportunity, technical support, administrative support, and mentorship. Urbanity X will support 5 choreographic residencies from February – June 2022.

Applications due December 10, 2021.

Each resident artist will receive:
– An upfront $1,000 stipend
– 30 hours of dedicated studio space
– Mentorship from leading Boston-based dance artists
Resident artists will also be able to show their work at Urbanity’s Central studio location, if they wish to have a public performance or showing. Should the artists choose to charge admission to their performance, they will receive 100% of the box office proceeds.

Each season, the Dance Complex offers several focused internship opportunities for students and young professionals seeking experience in the arts and arts administration. Interns will work within a community that brings accessible, artistic opportunities to dancers throughout the greater Boston area.

While each internship has a varied focus, all internships include assistance with general administrative responsibilities as well as one 2-3 hour front desk reception shift per week to ensure that all interns are given the opportunity to connect and interact with our community members. Interns are compensated with free classes and rehearsal space at the Dance Complex.
