Srija Wang/Nrityaarpana School of Bharatanatyam bring Ahut, meaning sacrifice in Sanskrit, to The Dance Complex on February 24. This is a Bharatanatyam recital accompanied by a live orchestra – the theme around this recital is to celebrate the legacy of Sri Adyar K Lakshman. Srija will be presenting a set of traditional items with three other dancers. The items were taught to Srija by Guru Roja Kannan, and the choreography is composed by legend Adyar k. Lakshman. Lakshman sir was trained in Carnatic music, Bharatanatyam, Mridangam and Nattuvangam. The orchestra will be presented by a nattunavar, Meena Subramanian, who is Roja Kannan’s sister. Singer Smt. Janani Swamy and Vidwan Tarun Bangalore on Mridangam.

This event is a part of The Dance Complex’s DIY Performance Series and will take place in Studio 1/the Julie Ince Thompson Theatre.
