Follow Footwork & Frolick down the rabbit hole for an evening of mid-19th century dances, lively music, and teatime treats! Lewis Carroll’s beloved novels Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (1865) and Through the Looking Glass (1871) introduced mid-19th century readers throughout Europe and America to a whimsical world of quadrilling lobsters, advancing turtles, and singing gryphons. The Wonderland Ball will harness this whimsical spirit for an evening of dancing from the decades of Carroll’s novels, including a mix of contra dances, quadrilles, and round dances (often called “couple dances”).

All dances will be taught and beginners are welcome, no partner required! Historical costumes will be admired but are optional – guests are encouraged to wear whatever makes you feel elegant (and fit for the court of the Queen of Hearts).
