Help BDA select the 2019 Dr. Michael Shannon Dance Champion and Boston Dance Alliance Unsung Hero! The nomination process is now open. Please recommend people who have shaped Boston dance for the better. Think of the leaders who have inspired you through their performances, teaching, administration, artistic collaboration, philanthropy or other contributions.
- The Dr. Michael Shannon Dance Champion Award, created in 2004, recognizes a member of the metropolitan Boston dance community over the age of 60 who has made a great contribution to Boston’s dance landscape and whose body of work constitutes a significant legacy. This award is determined at a meeting of former Dance Champions.
- Inaugurated in 2016, the Boston Dance Alliance Unsung Hero Award recognizes a person whose behind the scenes work with dance and dancers through music, design, administration, or any other activity has made a significant contribution to the vitality of the Boston dance scene. There is no age limit for this award. This award is determined by the Board of Boston Dance Alliance based on your nominations.
You may nominate up to three persons in each category. Deadline is Monday November 26, 2018 at 5 p.m. We will be announcing the winners in December, and recognize the awardees at our annual Gala this spring!
