For Indigenous Peoples’ Day Monday, October 10, 10 AM-4 PM.The Fenway Alliance presents “Opening Our Doors” including art, musical, and dance performances on the Christian Science Plaza. Free Strength and Conditioning Workshop for Dancers!  Come join Melissa Buffer and dancers of various backgrounds and levels for a complete strength and conditioning workout. Associates of the Boston Public Library present Writer-in-Residence Reception to welcome Rhonda DeChambeau. 
Rhonda’s proposed young adult novel, Top Heavy, features fifteen-year-old Esme, a powerful dancer who feels like she’s going to capsize under the weight of her own chest. Told in verse, this book will examine heart-wrenching teenage struggles with body image, money, a fractured friendship, and threats to hard-fought dreams. Wednesday, October 12, 6 PM, Boston Public Library’s Central Library in Copley Square.

KAIROS Dance Theater presents HUSK/VESSEL bringing back Paula Josa-Jones, the legendary choreographer, groundbreaking queer icon. The company explores clothing as covering and habitat, specifically how actual and metaphorical layers aid humans to hide or reveal themselves. Josa-Jones opens the show with a new solo work. Friday, October 14, 7:30 PM and Saturday, October 15, 3:00 PM and 7:30 PM, at Boston University’s Dance Theater

Choreographer Fouad Boussouf blends hip-hop, contemporary dance, and new circus with traditional forms of his native Morocco. The esteemed creator presents the US premiere of Näss, which translates as “people” in Arabic, a work at the crossroads of frenetic modernity and ancestral rituals. Presented by Global Arts Live at the ICA Friday, October 14 and  Saturday, October 15 at 8 PM.

World-class artists Javier Rodriguez & Moira Castellano are in residency at Harvard! Their residency this fall will include a masterclass, group seminars, private lessons, a milonga, and an exclusive performance on campus.  Private lessons are available upon request from Thursday, October 14-Monday, October 17. Five 90-minute workshops are offered Saturday, October 15, at 1:30 and 3:30 PM, Sunday, October 16, at 11 AM, 1:30 PM and 3:30 PM. Harvard Breakers present Battle for Boston 2022 A day-long intercollegiate dance competition (jam) that showcases breakdancing and other street styles. Featuring tournament-style 3v3 team battles and 2v2 open Bonnie and Clyde (non-collegiate). Saturday, October 15, 1 PM at Lowell Lecture Hall, Cambridge.

Danza Orgánica and Aquinnah Wampanoag Tribal Members present Âs Nupumukâunean / We Still Dance. Built on a collaborative relationship that is 4 years in the making, this family-friendly, movement and multi-media performance will be followed by an educational ‘talk-back’ directly after the performance. Saturday, October 15, 3 PM at Martha’s Vineyard Performing Arts Center.

Urbanity Dance & MetaMovements celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a FREE workshop and social dance event! Workshops include: Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Reggaeton, Timbaton and Latin Dance in Hip Hop. Circus Up is proud to announce their annual benefit at Arts at the Armory in Somerville Saturday, October 15, 7 PM featuring delicious treats, an exciting raffle, and a live performance, showcasing their community troupe, Kirkos, as well as beloved local circus artists and dancers. All funds raised from this event will go towards supporting their mission to use circus arts to overcome social barriers and build community with people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities.

Windhover Performing Arts Center presents a unique, thought-provoking mixture of short play readings and brief dance solos, called Putting on Our Shorts. Dancers include summer favorites Ava Girard and Alison Cook-BeattySaturday, October 15, 7:00-8:15 PM and Sunday, October 16th, 3:00-4:15 PM.

The CenterSeries presents Reggie Wilson/Fist and Heel Performance Group in POWER, in which choreographer and “kinesthetic anthropologist” Reggie Wilson conjures the secret histories of 1800s Black Shaker communities, many led by women. Saturday, October 15, 8 PM, at MainStage in Williamstown, MA.

Dancers ages 16-24 can apply for pre-professional experience with Heather Stewart from little house dance. Scholarships available to BIPOC dancers and low-income families/young-adults. To apply, submit an email stating your interest along with a video of you dancing (min 1 minute, max 3 minutes) and specify if interested in the scholarship to  sarah.slifer.swift@gmail.com. Application deadline is Saturday, October 15.

The 33rd Annual International Conference and Festival of Blacks in Dance happens January 2023 in Toronto, Canada!  Early registration ends Sunday, October 30 and they are currently seeking dance instructors and volunteers.

Qualified teaching candidates must have 5+ years of teaching experience. Please include with your submission a professional headshot, resume and/or CV and brief narrative/bio describing your years of teaching experience. The deadline for submission is Friday, October 14, 2022.

Reliable and dedicated individuals who are interested in gaining valuable hands-on experience, knowledge and insight into the arts community, and willing to give of their time and expertise are welcome! Volunteer tasks include but are not limited to: registration, ticket takers, ushers, production and guest liaisons. Complete the volunteer form to register.
