Salsa and bachata fans, dance at the Charlestown Naval Yard on The Anchor’s open-air, courtyard patio with Sabor Latino, Salsa y Control and DJ Hernan Monday July 11, 6-9 PM. No cover, but please register.

 

Lindy Hop takeover – Monday Night Lindy/Fusion social with Matthew Briggs and Skyler Jones located at the Danehy Park soccer field turf! The event is divided in two parts: a 30-minute lesson followed by a DJ party. Lesson at 8:00 pm sharp, be ready to move! Monday, July 11, 8:00 – 10 PM.

Sign up to join Summer Dance Explo I led by Lissa Geggis. It’ll be a week filled with fun and playful dance for ages 4-8, exploring Creative Movement, World Dance, and dance-themed art projects.

The City of Beverly hosts two Summer Salsa in the Park events in Lynch Park on Wednesday, July 13, and Wednesday, Aug 24, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Participants can learn the basics of salsa, or practice their moves. The evening starts with an hour of instruction given by Yaya Rodriguez, founder of the Cultura Latina Dance Academy in Lynn. Then on to social dancing to Latin tunes provided by DJ Franklin Condori. Participants are encouraged to come on their own or with a partner. No experience necessary.

Samvād School of Skills is a new series designed to offer professional skills to performing artists/dancers outside the studio, such as skills in marketing, branding, PR, stage and event management. First in this series: Embracing Branding a 3-part workshop offered by Karen Krolak, Co-Founder/Artistic Director of Monkeyhouse. Workshops can be attended online and are open to all.

Adele Myers and Dancers, Miami-based not-for-profit dance theater company, will present These Women In Space and Time (T.W.I.S.T) on July 15 & 16 at The Yard. T.W.I.S.T is a  visually stunning, heart-pounding dance theater performance that offers up acts of female solidarity. Adele Myers and Dancers also host two  TWISTalk events, gatherings for women to share, listen, laugh, and twist against the disempowering ways we move through the world in our daily choreographies.

Lilphunk Dance Company Auditions Phunk Phenomenon is hosting annual auditions for Lilphunk, Boston’s premier hip hop kids’ dance company. Lilphunk is the Boston Celtics official junior dance crew performing  during time outs and half-time shows. They are also back-to-back gold winners for The USA hip hop championships at Hip Hop international. Audition is Saturday, July 16, 2 PM at 1886 Revere Beach Pkwy, Everett.

 

The federal Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Arts Programs for Justice-Involved Youth funds programs that support and strengthen collaborations between arts-based organizations and juvenile justice systems to develop, expand, or enhance effective interventions that provide access to high-quality art programs with and for justice-involved youth. Applications are due Monday, July 18, 2022.
