Embrace Boston‘s Juneteenth Block Party kicks off the Juneteenth weekend within the heart of Boston at Roxbury Community College! The Embrace Ideas Block Party will celebrate artistic expression through a lively party that will include some of the city’s best turntablists. This celebration will be a joyful night of dancing, music, community, and delicious food provided by the area’s best BIPOC-owned food trucks Friday, June 16, 2 PM.
Join the Brookline Juneteenth Block Party a day of family-friendly fun, featuring music, food, activities, and more. A section of Harvard street will be blocked off for vendors and variety of games will be set up for everyone to enjoy. For those who prefer a more relaxed approach, there will be a variety of “take a break” areas featuring water and cooling stations and blanketed areas with pillows. Free food will also be on hand to offer tasty treats for everyone, including soul food, tacos, and ice cream. There will also be a dance party with a live DJ. Camille A. Brown & Dancers will perform as part of the Black Heritage Trail of New Hampshire’s week-long celebrations for Juneteenth. Call for Dancers! Choreographer Liana C. Percoco is collaborating with the Boston Public Quartet to create a multi-sensory arts experience at the Schoolmaster Hill Ruins in Boston’s Franklin Park on September 9, 2-4 PM. Liana is looking for dancers with strong modern-based and collaborative performance skills who feel comfortable dancing outside on uneven terrain and engaging with audience members during the event. For Artists By Artists (FABA) is a technical assistance program for artists in Boston to access free high quality video production services to support and propel their creative practice. Five Boston artists will be selected through an application process to receive services in the summer of 2023. FABA is not only providing services to artists of marginalized identities, but is also hiring marginalized artists to work on our program and productions – creating jobs and opportunity on both ends to help sustain and grow Boston’s creative workers. Priority will be given to socially and economically disadvantaged individuals, and creative workers living in Boston neighborhoods most impacted by COVID-19. Apply today!

Join CJ Donohue for Moving in Community summer series. Designed for all types of movers, this improvisation composition class combines writing, improv, and community sharing. Beginning with a juicy yoga-inspired warm up and ending with a meditative sound bath, this improvisation composition class will prompt movers to exchange ideas, words, and movement phrases, leading up to an improvisational score, all while moving in community. Origination Cultural Arts Center is hosting a 5-week summer intensive including African Dance, Hip-Hop, Modern, self-esteem workshops and field trips! ReadySetDance! aims to provide high-quality dance instruction and performance opportunities to youth ages 8-13. The program is open to beginner, intermediate, and advanced young dancers who have expressed an interest in further developing or discovering their technical and performance skills. Each dancer will receive 112.5 hours of instruction and will receive free dance attire and costumes for the culminating performance.
