Hello BDA Community,
Boston Dance Alliance (BDA) is excited to kick-off this week with a couple of announcements and opportunities.
First, BDA’s annual Open Call Auditions and Dancer Health Day will take place on the afternoon of Saturday, September 14 at The Foundry in Cambridge. We’re in the process of determining the line-up of classes and physical therapists and a registration link is coming soon. In the meantime, if you’re a choreographer looking to expand your dance company and specialize in ballet, modern-contemporary, street & club, or international/heritage dance forms please contact Carmen Rizzo at crizzo@bostondancealliance.org ASAP about a paid opportunity to lead one of the classes.
Second, building on our pilot “Dance on Display” series at the Omni Boston Hotel at Seaport, BDA is now also planning for an “International Grooves & Food” series on The Esplanade from 5:00-6:30 PM on the Wednesdays in October. If you specialize in an international / heritage dance form, please contact me at amyers@bostondancealliance.org ASAP about the possibility of a paid opportunity to perform & teach for one of the sessions for this diverse new series bringing a world of dance into the community.
While preferential consideration will be given to current BDA members, we will also happily consider inquiries from across our dance community as we work to finalize plans for these fast-approaching dance events. We look forward to hearing from you!
Thank you,
Aaron Myers, Executive Director
Congratulations to Massachusetts-based Michael Sakamoto and Paul D. Miller (aka DJ Spooky) and Jean Appolon Expressions on receiving the National Dance Project Production Grant!
JAE’s Pouvwa (Power), utilizes Haitian-folkloric dance, Afro-electronica, live drumming, visual installations, and workshops, to invite us all to galvanize our power to create a new world. Pouvwa invites us all to identify ways in which we can utilize our personal power to create a new world while also naming the realities of structural, political, and cultural misuse of power across the globe.
