Pro/Motion – week of March 10

Hello BDA Community,

This past week I had the pleasure of discussing fiscal sponsorship with a group of local choreographers who are a part of aMaSSiT, a program that helps dancemakers evolve then present new pieces.

Choreographing new work requires a significant amount of time, effort, and cost, and fiscal sponsorship is a great way to gain access to resources to help cover related expenses for dancers and their companies.

Choreographers/Artistic Directors, Dance Companies, and Dance Studios that become BDA members are eligible for BDA’s fiscal sponsorship program, which facilitated 50 fiscally-sponsored members’ access to more than $440,000 in 2024.

To learn more about the benefits of BDA membership including but not limited to fiscal sponsorship please visit this webpage and feel free to contact Operations & Membership Associate Carmen Rizzo for more info.

Have a great one,

Aaron Myers, Executive Director

The Artistic Athlete Health Collective created the Boston Dance Community Wellness Survey to help them understand what you, as a dancer, need (i.e. resources, PT, programs) and how they, as clinicians, can best support and advocate for Boston’s dance community. The arts are the lifeblood of this city, and if the artists aren’t taken care of, the scene isn’t sustainable. Please fill out the form. Your voices are greatly appreciated and shape the future.

A graduate student currently enrolled in an Entrepreneurship Course at MIT, would love to learn more about the experiences of dancers as professional artists building community, finding clients, and managing their portfolios. They are building an online platform for empowering the community, upskilling, and the business side of artmaking. Support this project with your insight in this form.
