Okwui Okpokwasili Master class
New York-based writer, performer, and choreographer Okwui Okpokwasili will teach a movement master class titled “Embodied Practice.” The class will explore questions such as “how does the body make a narrative?” and “how does one build a movement vocabulary around the psychic condition of a character?” Using text as an initial generating tool, participants will work individually and in groups to explore an emergent narrative through the building of a gestural vocabulary.
No movement experience necessary! Courage, imagination, and a willingness to fail are paramount.
The class is open to writers, performers, dancers, musicians, object art makers, art lovers, and all curious and committed people.
Participants must be age 18 years or older. Observers welcome!
