The Micheli Center for Sports Injury Prevention will be having a screening clinic once per month starting August 2016. Screenings last one hour.

PURPOSE OF THE DANCE SCREENING:
1. To identify potential “at risk” areas with specific exercise recommendations to reduce further risk to the musculoskeletal system and to decrease the risk of sustaining a dance-related injury.
2. To provide advice regarding current or past musculoskeletal problems and/or concerns.
3. The screening will include the following assessments:
a. Posture
b. Joint range of motion
c. Muscle strength
d. Movement analysis
4. Based on screening outcomes, the students will be given specific instructions and an individualized home exercise program to facilitate movements required for dance and to prevent potential musculoskeletal injury.

The screening will be performed by Michelina Cassella Kulak, PT, former director of the Department of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Services at Boston Children’s Hospital and Physical Therapy Services at Boston Ballet. Medical direction is provided by Lyle J. Micheli, MD, attending physician for the Boston Ballet for over 40 years and William Meehan, MD, director of The Micheli Center for Sports Injury Prevention, Boston Children’s Hospital at Waltham.
