When your body is your instrument, it is crucial to keep it healthy!
On Sunday, September 17, 2017, Boston Dance Alliance inaugurates Dancer Health Day, bringing a landmark national program to the area’s professional and recreational dancers.
Building on work by The Dance/USA Task Force on Dancer Health and in cooperation with The Actors Fund, BDA Board member Dr. Lauren Elson is bringing together area clinicians for a day of preventive health screenings.
The screenings will be held at the same time as this year’s BDA Open Call Audition at the Dance Complex and are open to any dancer over the age of 18. You do not need to participate in the Audition in order to take advantage of the screening.
The screening has two parts: a confidential health questionnaire and a series of 1:1 exams. Dancers learn about their own physical strengths and weaknesses, and receive immediate, personalized health education and referrals. We will also have a table with information about other health services.
Space is limited, so register now to guarantee your slot at the screening.
